Learn Sourdough for Healthy Eating Encore EditionApparently, saying “that was fun” means “do it again next month.” So here we are—the Healthy Eating group is bringing back the Sourdough Bread Workshop Tuesday, July 29 at 7 p.m. in Montgomery Center, and this time Marie-Paule will be back (jet lag and all). Darrel Kelly, because let’s face it—it’s hard to shape dough when you’re still on Paris time. RSVP by emailing gvclub@gmail.com
Crusty on the outside, warm on the inside. Whether you’re already baking or just curious about that jar of bubbly dough your neighbor keeps talking about, this class is for you. It’s an easygoing, hands-on intro to sourdough—the kind of bread that’s full of flavor, crunch, and culture (both literal and figurative).
We’ll cover:
– What a starter is — and how to keep it alive
– How time, temperature, and folding affect your final loaf
– How to bake a crusty, chewy boule even if you’ve never touched a banneton
– And yes, what to do when things go sideways (as told by “a friend”)
Bring your curiosity. Maybe leave with your own starter, a basic sourdough formula, and a new appreciation for what flour, water, salt, and wild yeast can become — in the right hands.
